Downloading using vpn file corrupt?
When you are at the office, most of the data transfer happens as a download. Because of this things are very fast. With your VPN connection active on your laptop, however, everything you download to your home laptop has to first be uploaded to you by your office VPN. This means that everything sent from the office over the VPN to your laptop has a maximum throughput of the office upload speed.
Also consider that all remote users share this upload speed, so the speed you can achieve depends on how many people are using it.
To do this we can open a command prompt and use the route and tracert commands. Tracert is a command that lets you display the route and transit times of packets in a connection. For simplicity, the discussion below lists the IPv4 addresses, but when you run these utilities yourself you will also see the IPv6 values. In this configuration, the home laptop has no access to the office network, so all traffic goes through the home router, which has a gateway IP address of Running route print produces two interfaces and shows the gateway IP address.
A gateway value of On-link means that the client can connect directly, without routing. Running tracert verifies the route goes through the home gateway at address Now we connect to the office VPN. By default, windows makes the VPN interface the default gateway instead of using the home router as the default gateway.
Running route print shows the new VPN interface number There is now also an On-link route for the interface at If only there was a way to route just the office specific traffic to the VPN, and everything else through your home ISP service.
That should solve our slow network woes. To do this, we will use a static route. A static route is an entry in the routing table that is manually configured, as opposed to entries that are automatically determined. After some time, when the client tries to connect to the cluster again, the cluster FQDN is not seen in the Connect to entries. Instead, the node ASA entry to which the client has been redirected is seen.
This occurs because the AnyConnect client retains the host name to which it last connected. This behavior is observed and a bug has been filed. The suggested workaround is to upgrade the Cisco AnyConnect to Version 2. A backup server list is configured in case the main server selected by the user is not reachable.
This is defined in the Backup Server pane in the AnyConnect profile. Complete these steps:. Error 0xfffffde5: Unknown Error. You can receive this log on the client: "The VPN client driver has encountered an error". In order to resolve this issue, make sure that Routing and Remote Access Service is disabled before you start AnyConnect.
If this does not resolve the issue, complete these steps:. The adaptive security appliance failed to allocate RAM system memory. In order to resolve this issue, reload the ASA or upgrade the ASA software to the interim release mentioned in the bug.
This issue can also be resolved if you disable threat-detection on ASA if threat-detection is used. This error usually occurs when the local pool for address assignment is exhausted, or if a bit subnet mask is used for the address pool.
The workaround is to expand the address pool and use a bit subnet mask for the pool. Session limit of 2 reached. You need to upgrade the ASA to version 8. This resolves the error. Note : Regardless of the license used, if the session limit is reached, the user will receive the login failed error message.
This error can also occur if the vpn-sessiondb max-anyconnect-premium-or-essentials-limit session-limit command is used to set the limit of VPN sessions permitted to be established.
If the session-limit is set as two, then the user cannot establish more than two sessions even though the license installed supports more sessions. Set the session-limit to the number of VPN sessions required in order to avoid this error message. What does this log mean and how is this resolved? This log message states that a large packet was sent to the client. The source of the packet is not aware of the MTU of the client.
This can also be due to compression of non-compressible data. The workaround is to turn off the SVC compression with the svc compression none command. This resolves the issue. When you connect to the AnyConnect Client, this error is received: "The secure gateway has rejected the agent's vpn connect or reconnect request. A new connection requires re-authentication and must be started manually.
Please contact your network administrator if this problem persists. The following message was received from the secure gateway: no assigned address". This error is also received when you connect to the AnyConnect Client: "The secure gateway has rejected the connection attempt.
A new connection attempt to the same or another secure gateway is needed, which requires re-authentication. The following message was received from the secure gateway:Host or network is 0". This error is also received when you connect to the AnyConnect Client: "The secure gateway has rejected the agent's vpn connect or reconnect request. A new connection requires a re-authentication and must be started manually.
Please contact the network administrator if the problem persists. The following message was received from the secure gateway: No License". The router was missing pool configuration after reload. You need to add the concerned configuration back to the router. The "The secure gateway has rejected the agent's vpn connect or reconnect request. The following message was received from the secure gateway: No License" error occurs when the AnyConnect mobility license is missing.
Once the license is installed, the issue is resolved. When you try to authenticate in WebPortal, this error message is received: "Unable to update the session management database". This problem is related to memory allocation on the ASA. This issue is mostly encountered when the ASA Version is 8. In order to resolve this error, complete this procedure in order to manually set the AnyConnect VPN agent to Interactive:.
Note : If this is to be used, then the preference would be to use the. MST transform in this instance. This is why there is a need to identify the application that causes this problem.
Robocopy has a feature to copy in restartable network mode, so if the network goes down, it will automatically resume the transfer from where it left. Rsync has also a resume option, and it works great, but you have to make sure you use the network filesystem and not a locally mounted network directory. The command to transfer will be like this:. Filezilla has an option to resume files after interruption, but there is a timeout setup by default.
Make sure you set the timeout to 0, so that you can recover even after a few hours with no connection between server and client. Note, that this is not a good option if you have many clients, since it will keep open connections indefinitely.
Apache has also an option to allow file resuming, which is enabled by default. If you are determined to use Apache for this though, there are some ways to do it, you can start your research here: File Upload plugin for Apache. I have bought maybe 4 of them as the generations have progressed starting with the nonG versions. I am frankly starting to look more toward other brand since Netgear seems to be a time waster vs the other products I have from other vendors that just work.
Give me the ability to speak with someone and I wil. I will be happy to spend time explaining the situ and helping craft a supportable solution that will assist others if there is anyone else out there interested.
I was able to fix this problem successfully using the method posted here. I am having the same issue as many others with upgrading my firmware from 4. I have attempted to upgrade through the router GUI using multiple different web browsers and computers. Has anyone found another solution other than throwing the router off an extremely tall bridge? This makes me not want to buy Netgear again, as I have had ongoing issues with this router.
I conducted incremental firmware updates from the corrupt 4. Not sure what happened but after trying to update the firmware using TFTP multiple times, it finally started to update. As a note, it stalled about 3 times before it finally took the 4th time. I keep getting the corrupt file problem over and over. I just want to be clear here. I am not happy. It is ridiculous that your products don't maintain themselves.
Imagine buying a cellphone that you have to maintain. Think about how less complex a router is compared to a cell phone Yet the router is the complex device in need of complex support. It's nonsense. Your "help" is useless when the product you're trying to support is junk and your advice is based on guesses.
These products are meant to break. The software is meant to fail. Your company has 1 star when it comes to customer service and satisfaction.
Why is that? Just some random chance of events that has led to the lowest rating possible? Only in some fantasy land would that make any sense.
The company is scamming people into buying junk from them. In closing I would like to say that I think taking my business elsewhere is probably the best thing to do since the majority of the reviews about your products indicate that giving NETGEAR more money is the only way to fix the defective products and services.
Wouldn't it be money ahead to just buy a new router for less than the cost of "help" from you guys? You don't help, you're not helping. You're throwing shots in the dark at defective products. You must know this. Everyone else already does, except these poor fools that took your suggestions and actually thought they'd work.
We're all not suckers. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. All of your suggestions failed to work. Turning it off is the only thing so far to let it download completely.
Every now and then Opera shows me a reminder that the VPN is still active, why sometimes I think that this feature is not intended for regular intensive use or downloads, but I can be mistaken. SurfEasy was sold one or two years ago IIRC , and since then there are relatively often smaller accessibility problems and availability issues with the new VPN servers, which Opera now manages itself.
Therefore I do not know whether it promises success to investigate this problem further on the user side. However, I think that in any case a web browser should give feedback about faulty downloads, so that users are not left with the false belief that their downloads are done without errors.
So would you mind giving us some direct download addresses for files that fail to download on your system if VPN is enabled? Then other users could compare whether these downloads also fail for them.
